Adding PDFs to your website so Google finds them.

If you post PDFs to your website as content then make sure they are getting index and loaded correctly.

Three vital things you need to do

  1. Make sure the PDF is full optimised for the web – this is very different from print quality. You can significantly reduce the size of a PDF by optimising it.
  2. Give the PDF a Title and keywords  – when you come to print as a PDF be sure to find the option to set a title and add a description.
  3. Give the PDF a sensible descriptive name.

If you do not do this then search engines are much less likely to put the PDF into the right place when indexing

Type  this site:mysite.co.uk  filetype:pdf into the Google  command box to see how and if Google is indexing your PDFs.
